This is a near new professionally built catamaran!
Epoxy over strip plank hulls, super strong and safe and a redesigned very practical cabin top that provides excellent 180 degree vision through near vertical windows, consistent headroom in the saloon and central elevated drive station.
Splashed without the rig in 2019, the rig and sails were added in 2020 and Outback Marine designed, Victron Energy electrical system including 400amp/hrs of Lithium Batteries and Victron 3000 watt/120 amp battery charger, dual victron solar controllers and was fully commissioned and did her first serious coastal cruise in 2022.
The wiring is all double insulated tinned with a high quality electrical installation under the saloon seat and check out the wiring behind the switchboard, a sight to behold. Every boat's wiring should be like this. Ulu presents in "as new" condition with refreshing, warm New Guinea Rosewood veneers on lightweight panel timber finishes throughout instead of the"sanitised hospital all white look" as with most Schionning interiors, incredibly spacious cockpit with luxurious upholstered seating for up to six, elevated central helm on a very comfortable helm seat offering 360 degree vision, premium Raymarine electronics navigation package and a Central Electric Winch to manage the sails, fully enclosed cockpit with clears for all weather cruising.
As these hull shapes are easily driven, the 25 hp Beta marine diesel engines with shaft drives and carbon three blade feathering kiwi props easily pushes Ulu at 6 kts at 2200 revs using just over 1 ltr/hr, giving her a range of 300 miles. The engines rev out to 3600revs so there is plenty of reserve speed under power in hand.
The gourmet 'galley up' to port near the helm has twin sinks, 2 Vitrifrigo fridge drawers, lots of storage cupboards and ample bench top space. The saloon is to starboard with it's U-shaped settee and the versatile table top slides in two directions for optimum comfort. There are double berths aft in each hull, a single forward in the port hull and a bathroom forward in the starboard hull with separate shower and toilet spaces. The sailing systems and deck layout are designed for single handed sailing. Ulu will sail at wind speed in light winds and 80% of windspeed in medium airs, (has done 18.6 kts so far) the hulls and rig being thoroughbred Schionning Cosmos 1250... "Ulu is essentially a wolf in sheeps clothing".

Unlike most Schionnings, Ulu has an excellent deep fully weather protected cockpit with elevated steering station, plush helm chair, electric Anderson winch for the helmsman to single hand the sails, comfortable upholstered seating and fixed table for the crew. Capable of sailing at windspeed and a luxurious but light weight craftsmen rosewood interior for those of you who appreciate a warm gloss timber interior as found in Riviera and Maritimo luxury cruisers.
