NOW REDUCED FOR A QUICK SALE !
This 12m Custom Sailing Cat "Lyra" designed by engineer and very experienced sailor, Ian Campbell, is intelligently designed for short handled cruising with electric winches for sail handling, no main and boom to hassle with. The whole cockpit is protected by the hardtop as is the elevated steering station to port. The SINGLE LEVEL INTERIOR LAYOUT is as spacious as a modern apartment with her generous 7.5m beam. The galley is to port, U- shaped saloon settee to starboard and moving forward on the same level is the owner's cabin with a full walk around island queen bed. There is a guest queen cabin to port. Full standing room in each engine room aft and excellent access to both fuel tanks. The water tanks are built in under the cabin soles in each hull. Refreshingly different, this vessel offers so much more for live aboard cruising than most production catamarans.
Lyra is so easy to sail that her current ninety year old owner, who we sold this vessel to four years ago, coastal sails her single handed ( Southport - Pittwater return)and he has nothing but praise for Lyra's design and suitability of use for single handed cruising. Highest speed reached he says 24 kts.
Original owner /designer Ian Campbell, single handed cruised Lyra extensively up and down the east coast of Australia and overseas to The Lousiades, rapidly catching up with and passing most cats sighted on the horizon along the way. Displacing just 7 tons, her power to weight ratio is high making her light and deceptively quick.
